Pet, Brain Injury, Sense of Smell

I share a building with a yoga studio, and the owner, Alisha, has a dog with an incredible story. When she was a puppy, she was hit in the head by an ATV and was going to be put down—but Alisha stepped in and saved her life. She gave her the care and love she needed, and slowly, the dog started to recover.

For a long time, she would walk in circles and had trouble regulating her body temperature. She also lost her sense of smell, couldn’t lap water properly, and had frequent accidents. But over time, she improved. By the time I met her, she seemed like a mostly normal dog—but still had those lingering issues.

When I got the egg here at Midwest Modalities, we started putting her in it, and the results have been amazing. She’s regained her sense of smell, which means she eats really well now. The accidents still happen occasionally, but far less frequently than before. We’re now working on helping her with drinking water—right now, it has to be mixed with her food, or she gets dehydrated.

It’s been so inspiring to watch her transformation. She seems so much more aware and engaged now—smarter, even. Every time she’s at the studio and sees a client getting in the egg, she runs in hoping it’s her turn. It’s the sweetest thing.
